Miami County Easter Parade on Sunday, April 16, 2017, from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Courthouse Square
AcesPLUS Health Strategists, in partnership with the Miami County YMCA and newly-formed More for Miami substance abuse prevention coalition, proudly present the inaugural Miami County Easter Parade on Sunday, April 16, 2017, from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Courthouse Square located at 25 N. Broadway.
This parade is unlike anything else in Indiana on Easter holiday weekend. With performances from bands and singers, music forms the background for our promenade -- indeed, a parade -- of people wearing hand-made Easter bonnets and colorful Easter outfits. This is the kind of parade where the parade-goers are the parade; no floats this time; instead, it’s about greeting old friends and meeting new ones. Beloved pets on parade are welcome, too!
Sweet and savory foods, art displays, games for the entire family, competitions, prizes and gift baskets (in addition to the fun of costumery) will round out the afternoon.
The other remarkable feature of the parade is the kick-off of the More for Miami movement, a substance abuse prevention campaign to raise awareness and provide education about healthier living. In the spirit of fellowship and renewal, organizations supporting substance abuse prevention and treatment, health and wellness will help launch a county-wide challenge to reduce dependency and addiction.
An Easter Parade “Prep Rally” is planned for families and friends to design their own Easter parade bonnets. The “Prep Rally” is Saturday, April 8 from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Miami County Historical Society Museum Annex.
Local performers and interested vendors are welcome to register for the parade by calling .
